Asus CEO Jerry Shen has presented for the first time the new EeePC model - Eee PC S101. A quick look at it clearly shows it's after the macbook air market, because it's 2.2 cm tall and weighs only 1kg.
For comparison, mackbook air measures 1.9 cm, just 3mm less. The Eee PC S101 will be powered by an Intel Atom processor and will feature a 64GB SSD Drive. Price is set at $899.

Specifications:
- 10.2" Screen with LED backlight
- Shiny surface
- Coffee brown and White
- Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHz/512KB L2/533MHz FSB) + 945GME chipset
- No optical drive
- 32GB SSD (US$699)
- 64GB SSD (US$899)
- Thickness 1.6 - 2.5 cm (MacBook Air 1.9cm)

Although this netbook is derived from the Eee line, it wil not feature the Eee logo as it will distance itself from the low cost concept. But can it take on the Macbook Air?
