MSI has decided that the X-Slim X340 needed some minor changes that make a big difference for the user. One of the biggest changes is a $100 price drop making it more affordable at $799. The new model contains all the same internal components but they swapped out the old flimsy keyboard with a sturdy well-built keyboard. So no more bouncy keys when you are tweeting on twitter.
When released earlier this year it was equipped with only a 4-cell battery making the battery life a little over three and half hours. With the new and improved X-Slim it is sporting an 8-cell battery boosting its life to almost 9 hours. A huge improvement to the endurance but this adds thickness to the slim profile, which is well worth it. The new 8-cell battery makes the total weight grow from 2.9lbs to 3.4lbs, you can't even tell. It blends well with its clean wedge design giving it a slightly raised stance. If you have already own the earlier model of the X340 you can purchase the beefed up battery pack for $99.
So if you add up the new price point, improved keyboard, and double the battery life you have a well rounded netbook. And since the older model is already selling at $749 in most stores the new price drop could make the price even cheaper, making this one sweet deal.
