The Sharp NetWalker PC-Z1 is being compared to the UMID mbook M1, they both have that clamshell compact design, a WSVGA touchscreen, 512MB of RAM, and a microSD card slot, but that’s where the comparisons end. The NetWalker is powered by an 800MHz ARM Cortex A8-based processor, with a 4GB hard drive, and a 10-hour battery life. Other key features are a full 6-row keyboard, optical mouse with buttons, standard USB ports, a 5" LED-backlit screen, and Linux Ubuntu 9 OS.

There has been a lot of buzz floating around about the new Nokia Booklet 3G since the announcement of its upcoming release last week. More details have been released including an in-depth and long list of all of its specs. Nokia said they would be concentrating on "phones, smartphones and mobile computers." Their release of the Booklet 3G will kick off their attempt at the netbook world.

The Booklet 3G will come out of the box in three different colors black, ice (white) and azure (blue). Some of the specs comprise of an amazing 16-cell Li-ion battery with a 12-hour battery life, 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 1GB of RAM, 120GB hard drive, and a 10.1-inch LCD screen. At only 0.78 inches thick it will also include Windows 7, Bluetooth, assisted GPS, 3 USB 2.0 slots, HDMI, 1.3mp camera, WiFi, SD card reader, and a SIM card slot for 3G access. It has a fanless design so it could make it very difficult to hold if you plan on using it for an extended period of time.

There is no official release date set yet but Nokia said that the asking price would be $810. That is pretty steep for a netbook but I am sure wireless carriers will offer a deal with a signed 3G contract.

MSI has decided that the X-Slim X340 needed some minor changes that make a big difference for the user. One of the biggest changes is a $100 price drop making it more affordable at $799. The new model contains all the same internal components but they swapped out the old flimsy keyboard with a sturdy well-built keyboard. So no more bouncy keys when you are tweeting on twitter.

When released earlier this year it was equipped with only a 4-cell battery making the battery life a little over three and half hours. With the new and improved X-Slim it is sporting an 8-cell battery boosting its life to almost 9 hours. A huge improvement to the endurance but this adds thickness to the slim profile, which is well worth it. The new 8-cell battery makes the total weight grow from 2.9lbs to 3.4lbs, you can't even tell. It blends well with its clean wedge design giving it a slightly raised stance. If you have already own the earlier model of the X340 you can purchase the beefed up battery pack for $99.

So if you add up the new price point, improved keyboard, and double the battery life you have a well rounded netbook. And since the older model is already selling at $749 in most stores the new price drop could make the price even cheaper, making this one sweet deal.

They have just debut the Averatec N3400 laptop encased in a lightweight aluminum shell. This 13-inch notebook is very competitive with other laptops on the market.

Vice president of sales at TriGem USA, Henry Hewitt said, "As one of the thinnest and lightest notebooks on the market, the N3400 meets the demand of consumers who require the ultimate in portability and a little flash of style without breaking the bank. Although it is small in size and weight, the N3400 is large in power and performance. This notebook is sure to stand out from the crowd with its low weight, small footprint and affordable price point."

UMID has gone back to the lab on their latest project, the UMID Mbook M1, after recalling an earlier prototype. UMPC Portal has given the M1 an in-depth review and has shared the results. Overall was given mixed reviews, performance wise meets all and sets some standards but lacks comfort and durability.

This Ultra Mobile PC displays a 4.8" 1024x600 touchscreen that performs with accurate precision. The UMID Mbook can run on Windows XP, Vista, or Linux. Encased in this lightweight clamshell is a 1.3Ghz Atom Z520 processor, 512MB of RAM, and also holds a fast 16GB SSD for storage. Also included are a mini-USB port, a micro SD slot, mobile sim-card slot, 1.3mp webcam, microphone, Wi-Fi, and a retractable stylus. The battery is a mini 18Wh 2-cell battery that has an average battery life of 4 to 6 hours. The keyboard is a compact mini QWERTY keyboard that you can use like a small mobile smart phone by typing with both thumbs.

Now here are the downfalls, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack and no built-in USB 2.0 port. You have to carry around a big awkward dongle that plugs into the side allowing you to use those features. So if you want something light and pocket size for some mobile computing you can pick up a UMID Mbook M1 for $500 to $700 sometime soon.

It looks like Lenovo has made a pocket sized computer to compete with the Sony Vaio-P called the Pocket Yoga. I believe this netbook is still in the concept stages but it would be nice to see this one made. Incased in leather for a more sophisticated look, including a high fashion leather strap. It's not just a netbook it is also a convertible tablet with and ulta-wide screen. Also from the concept drawings it looks like besides having a touch screen and stylus, the leather strap converts into an usable wireless mouse. Amazing! The details on this are still to be released but I hope we found out more from Lenovo soon.

They discuss its higher quality compared to lower end Eee PC's. But despite its quality it still has its share of flaws. The touch screen is not up to par with other touch screens in its class and doesn't include multi-touch technology. Also another big problem is the smudge factor on the touch screen and its ability to show fingerprints. It is planned for release in a few months and will come in 5 different colors (white, champagne, navy, black, and pink). Here are some of its specs and some exclusive pics from Bit-tech. Read their full review here.

It is a lightweight netbook/tablet with a respectable 7" screen. It has everything else a normal netbook would have just twice as small. They include a larger keyboard for a more comfortable feel. Also included is a standard Atom processor, 1 GB of RAM, 60 GB hard drive, and can run Windows XP. It is very similar to the new Sony VIAO P with its 1024x600 touch screen but has the added bonus of also being a tablet PC with its swivel out screen. Hopefully we will see this model in the states by the end of this year.
